He’s alone in his thoughts as he sits in class. His mind too full of wonder to focus on the task. “Wake up, says his teacher, you’ve got work to do.” “Science and math and a test or two.” But he never hears a word she says. He is lost deep in the fantasy inside his head. He dreams of a world far away Where he can laugh and play. Where girls and boys Can have all the candy and toys. Where dragons can fly And castles soar into the sky. Where monsters roar And eagles soar. Where there are no rules And never a day of school. That is where his mind is at, All day, in that chair he sat. But teacher don’t despair. For while homework he might not care. That boy who you scold Might be the one who changes the world.

I Brought a Giant Walrus With Me to School Today

I brought a walrus to school today.
He went out to recess with the kids to play.
We jumped onto the walrus’ giant tusks
And yelled, “faster walrus, hurry, mush!”

After recess, the walrus followed us up the hall.
"He needs to go inside I said.
Let’s take him to our class,
Ms. Sherwood won’t mind at all."

Inside the class Ms. Sherwood said
“That walrus sure does smell,
He’s far too big for show and tell.”

“But Ms. Sherwood, I said,
What was I to do? Either I bring
Him here or leave him at the zoo.”

“Well take him outside to get some fresh air.
I won’t have a giant walrus sitting right there.”

So I took the walrus to the cafeteria up the hall.
Along the way, he went into the gym
And popped all of the volleyballs.
“Sorry, I said as I went on my way.
I've got a giant walrus with me today.”

In the cafeteria, the walrus began
Eating all of the children's food.
He ate pizza, burgers,
and tacos,
Anything that he could.
As the food began flying,
The children were screaming and crying.
This was certainly quite a scene.
But luckily for me…
It was all just a dream!
